BOB diving
BOB diving is a great way to explore the sea without having to use scuba diving gear. Using a Breathing Observation Bubble (BOB), your head remains perfectly dry inside a small unit that is akin to an old diving suit which is effectively a motor powered underwater scooter that allows you to tour the quiet bays of the Atlantic without having to be an experienced diver.
BOB diving costs €44 and will last for around 40 minutes, not including the boat trip to and from the shore.
SIAM Water Park
Siam was built to resemble ancient Thailand, with many mysterious creatures and buildings surrounding the park, but also featuring modern slides, rides and shows to ensure the whole family are filled with feelings of excitement and adventure.
The park’s main attraction is the “Tower of Power” – a huge 28 metre kamikaze slide from the top of an ancient Thai building, which definitely isn’t for the faint hearted. Once you’ve made your way to the top, admire the view of the park briefly before you plunge back down to earth at a jaw dropping speed.
If you don’t fancy the tower of power, then there’s plenty of other rides including The Dragon; a huge funnel which you and 3 others sit inside a huge raft and are thrown into the Dragon’s lair, or there’s the Mai Thai river – a ride for the lazy people who want to sit back and see where the water takes them.
There are also racing slides, a huge twisting turning Jungle snake ride, and even an authentic Thai floating market where you can pick up something to eat or drink, along with souvenirs to remember your day out.
Aguilas Jungle Park
Aguilas Jungle Park is large zoo in Los Cristianos, home to over 500 animals including tigers, lions, leopards, orangutans, chimpanzees, hippos, flamingos, parrots and penguins. There are also daily shows featuring birds of prey and exotic birds, although simply standing back and watching the monkeys could provide just as much entertainment.
There’s an assault course for kids to have a run around, and even an 800 metre bobsledding track for you to race round at high speeds.
Loro Parque
Loro Parque is similar to the Aguilas Park, but is also home to shows featuring dolphins, sea lions and whales. SeaWorld have provided 4 orca whales to Loro Parque, and trained staff to help them entertain the crowds.
Each day, there are 5 sea lion shows, 4 dolphin shows, 6 parrot shows and 3 shows featuring the above mentioned whales. Loro Parque has over 3500 animals including gorillas, chimpanzees, tigers, alligators and penguins.
OWH Marine Racing
Billed as Formula 1 racing at Sea, OWH Marine Racing is a tour of the island by boat, with the difference being this one does 0-60 in 4 seconds. Enjoy a tour of the remote sea caves around the bay of Masca, before the boat slows down to allow you to jump into the sea for a swim, and even pulls in to a small bay to stop off for a cold beer to relax with in the sun.
If you’re lucky, you might even spot a dolphin or two along the trip – the driver takes you to areas they are known to be seen in, so remember to take your camera.
As you can see, there’s more to Tenerife than just sitting on a beach, so get out there and do the things you can’t normally do at home!
